D.C. UNITED | MATCHDAY FILM

ALL UNITED

THE STORY

D.C. United wanted the season told, the real one, beyond the scoreline and the highlight reel.

So we made the match the center of everything. Not just the ninety minutes, but the week that builds to them. The training, the locker room, the recovery table, the city outside the stadium. We took the matchday film and made it cinematic, a story that treats a single game as the thing an entire week points toward.

WHAT WE UNCOVERED

A true match narrative lives in everything that led up to it.

The goals are the part everyone sees. Underneath them is a whole week of people, a coach's message the night before, a player fighting back from injury to be there, a community that shows up no matter the result. When you film all of it and connect it to the game, the match stops being a highlight. It becomes the payoff of a story the fans never usually get to see.

THE NARRATIVE

We shot close.

The camera stayed near the people, close enough to catch the personality, the nerves, the small moments. When we covered the matches, we used angles and shots most fans never get, putting the viewer inside the game and inside the supporters' sections, not watching from the stands but standing in them. Everything off the pitch pointed back to what was coming on it.

It was an up and down year on the pitch, and we didn't smooth it over. A coach was let go and a new one came in. Ownership sat down with the supporters. Players stepped up when the season asked them to. It ended with the worst record in the league, the wooden spoon, and we kept that in the story, because it was true. What held through all of it was the thing the title points at. A club and a city, all united, through a season that tested both.
